Evidence, 2006

ArtSpace, New Haven, CT

“Evidence” questions the role of theatricality by playfully implicating the viewer as a participant in the installation. As the viewer walks around the large, leaning yellow wall, partially blocking entry into the gallery, they walk under a biomorphic sculpture on a wood tower, oozing from under a pile of fake bricks, a black puddle on the floor and a rope. The installation and the viewer are framed by the large window facing the street, which catalyzes the transition from observing to being observed.

Dimensions: 13 1/3’ x 15’7″ x 15’10”

Materials: Foam panels, foam board, wood, paint, stain, rope, latex
